Alicia Martín has been appointed as the new general manager for the Iberian branch of plastics producers association PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org), with effect from 1 June 2020. Martín has been connected to PlasticsEurope for more than 15 years, both in Spain and Portugal as well as at the association’s Brussels headquarters. She replaces Ignacio Marco, who managed the Iberian region starting in December 2016 (see Plasteurope.com of 22.12.2016).

PlasticsEurope’s new managing director, Virginia Janssens (see Plasteurope.com of 05.02.2020), said, “Alicia has a solid experience in addressing the challenges of our industry in terms of sustainability and working towards a circular economy for plastics. Along with her commitment to collaborate with the different stakeholders of our value chain, Alicia will help advance our strategy of responsibly addressing the challenges of our sector, in particular helping to resolve plastics waste issues, as well as demonstrating the ability and value of our materials to contribute positively to society.” In the past three years, Martín has collaborated with Dow and Repsol on the companies’ sustainability and circular economy strategies.
