AMCOR
Sale of two flexibles packaging plants in Europe / Restructuring programme on track
Amcor (Abbotsford / Australia; www.amcor.com) is selling its flexibles packaging plants in Lund / Sweden and Somerset / UK to Swedish private equity group Accent Equity 2008. The plants produce mainly unprinted films for the meat and fish segments, and have combined sales of EUR 85m, the Australian packaging group said. The divestments are part of a restructuring of Amcor’s flexibles operations in western Europe – see Plasteurope.com of 06.11.2007.
The restructuring involves increasing the company’s weighting in lower cost regions, particularly southern and eastern Europe. Amcor is investing EUR 25m in a new flexibles plant in Lodz / Poland – see Plasteurope.com of 14.04.2008. Amcor said it remains on target to deliver an annual EBIT benefit of EUR 30m for an expected cash cost of EUR 60m. The company expects to realise most of the benefits in the 2009/10 financial year.
