STOROPACK
Purchase of Australian sales partner Intellipack Asia Pacific
German protective film producer Storopack (Metzingen; www.storopack.com) has acquired its long-term Australian sales partner Intellipack Asia Pacific (Seven Hills / Australia) for an undisclosed amount. The company has been renamed as Storopack Australia, but remains under the leadership of Peter Blakeley, the founder and previous managing director of Intellipack.
The purchase follows 10 years of collaboration between the two companies, during which Intellipack was in charge of marketing Storopack’s “AIRplus” air cushion systems and “PAPERplus” paper padding systems in Australia and New Zealand. In addition, Intellipack also provides consultancy services on integrated packaging systems, from the design stage to final implementation. The Australian group posted preliminary sales of about EUR 2.7m in 2015.
Storopack Asia Pacific president Frank Imkamp called the acquisition “another milestone in extending our market presence in the Asia-Pacific area.” In late 2014 the German group had acquired its long-term Japanese trade partner EJ (see Plasteurope.com of 05.12.2014). Since then it has further strengthened its global footprint through additional acquisitions in both Italy and North America (see Plasteurope.com of 18.02.2015 and of 08.01.2016).
