Additional PET film line starts up at Thai site / Latest global capacity expansion
Klöckner Pentaplast (kp, Montabaur / Germany; www.kpfilms.com) has installed another PET film production line at its site in Rayong / Thailand. The plant already produces high-performance PETG and PVC film, and last saw its capacity raised in 2011 (see Plasteurope.com of 08.04.2010). The new line, whose investment cost and capacity was not disclosed, will focus on manufacturing standard and high quality films for the local market, meeting rising demand for electronic and food packaging. It will employ 15 workers, kp said, adding that the company already has a workforce of more than 200 in Thailand.
Klöckner Pentaplast, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2015 (see Plasteurope.com of 23.12.2015), already invested in capacity expansions in Germany and Switzerland this year (see Plasteurope.com of 13.06.2016). The company also recently strengthened its footprint in the Middle East through the acquisition of Turkish rigid film solutions provider Farmamak (see Plasteurope.com of 07.11.2016).
