Flexible-packaging producer ProAmpac (Cincinnati, Ohio / USA; www.proampac.com) has strengthened its position in Europe by snapping up two film-making businesses in the UK. The US firm has acquired IG Industries (Brigg; www.igindustries.co.uk) and Brayford Plastics (Lincoln; www.brayfordplastics.com). Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
Brayford makes bags and film for food and medical packaging products, while IG Industries produces film packaging for industrial, personal care and horticultural markets and the food and drink sector.
ProAmpac is owned by Pritzker Private Capital, with the firm’s management and other co-investors holding stakes in the business. The addition of the two UK firms brings the number of ProAmpac’s manufacturing sites to 38 worldwide, where it employs nearly 4,900 staff. The company announced the takeover of a Canadian packaging supplier late last year (see Plasteurope.com of 09.12.2020).
