The members of the European Diisocyanate & Polyol Producers Association (ISOPA, Brussels / Belgium; www.isopa.org) elected Herman Motmans, senior director of product management at Dow Polyurethanes, as the new president during the annual general meeting in December 2020. He succeeds Mike Fowles, vice president, global supply chain, at Huntsman, who had held the office since 2015 (see Plasteurope.com of 21.12.2015). Motmans’ deputy is Christopher Metz, global director, strategic marketing, at BASF.
The new president’s top priorities include strengthening the association’s product stewardship and to ensure that the European Green Deal is leveraged as an opportunity for the industry. “We are an industry with a long-standing commitment to the highest standards of health and safety. Now, we have another opportunity to work with our stakeholders to set an example for the industries around us as we work to roll-out a comprehensive occupational health and safety training programme in the EU as part of the REACH restriction,” said Motmans.
An affiliate of the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic, Brussels; www.cefic.org), ISOPA promotes standards of best practice in the distribution and use of diisocyanates and polyols in Europe.
