As part of its announced growth strategy, Austria’s Coveris (Vienna; www.coveris.com) is currently investing in medical goods packaging and optimising its two German locations in Halle and Rohrdorf for Industry 4.0. Some EUR 10m has been allocated for modernising the Halle site by the first quarter of 2021 (see PIWeb of 23.06.2020), but the company said the production facility in Rohrdorf cannot be converted to meet the required standards, so Coveris has announced that it will move operations there into a new, 3,000 m² building some 1.5 km from the current location.
Plans for the new building include an ISO Class 7 cleanroom, and the company expects a trouble-free move due to geographical proximity. The relocation should be completed by summer 2021, the company said, noting that around EUR 2m will be invested in the new location.
CEO Jakob Mosser said, “Medical goods packaging is a core business of our company.” Coveris also makes packaging for food, pet food and agricultural products. In the EMEA region, the group employs 4,200 staff at 27 locations.
