Packaging producer Coveris (Vienna / Austria; www.coveris.com) recently started implementing a EUR 10m investment programme to renovate its production facilities for sterile, medical-grade packaging in Halle / Germany. The upgrade covers technology steps including extrusion, printing, laminating and converting. These are to achieve “Industry 4.0” standards.

For the second half of this year, the core of the second phase is to see the modernisation of the Halle facility’s entire converting department under ISO class 8 cleanroom conditions. The new cleanroom will offer upgraded cleanliness levels during production, packaging and preparation for shipments. This upgrade is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2021.
