Packaging producer Coveris (Vienna / Austria; www.coveris.com) has opened a “Pack Innovation Centre” in Halle / Germany, adding to its first centre built in Leeds / UK. The facility, spread over an open space of 400 m², is equipped with machinery, including a thermoformer, tray-sealer and form-fill-seal machines, which Coveris said provides a wide range of industrial trial possibilities and enables on-site testing and immediate validation.
The Austrian group will also offer cross-functional training at the centre as well as hosting internal and external events, designed to develop packaging for the future. Coveris CEO Jakob Mosser said, “In addition, it brings great value to our customers as they can conduct trials on original, industrial packaging machines without blocking their own production.”
In June 2020, Coveris started work on a EUR 10m project at Halle to renovate its facilities for producing sterile, medical-grade packaging (see Plasteurope.com of 23.06.2020).
