Acquisition of LyondellBasell's site in Texas
Ingenia Polymers (Jubail / Saudi Arabia; www.ingeniapolymers.com) has acquired LyondellBasell’s (LYB, Houston, Texas / USA; www.lyondellbasell.com) operations in La Porte, Texas, commonly called “Bayshore Industrial”. The transaction closed on 2 March 2020.

LYB’s La Porte operations previously belonged to A. Schulman, which was taken over by LyondellBasell in 2018 – see Plasteurope.com of 23.08.2018. Ingenia CEO John Lefas said the company’s model is one of “one-stop, full-service, post-reactor operations” for polymer producers. The company is a specialist in masterbatches and blends. Lefas said the La Porte business was its first acquisition in 34 years, with growth during that time being organic.
Karl-H. Foerster has joined Ingenia as vice president of corporate development. He is the former executive director of PlasticsEurope (Brussels / Belgium; www.plasticseurope.org) and played a key role in founding the World Plastics Council (WPC) – see Plasteurope.com of 04.07.2019.
