In purchasing AOC (UK), speciality chemicals and composites group Büfa (Oldenburg / Germany; www.buefa.de) has acquired the distribution business of resins producer AOC Aliancys (Collierville, Tennessee / USA; www.aoc-resins.com) in the UK. The purchasing price was not disclosed.

As a spokesperson said in response to an enquiry from Plasteurope.com, the UK AOC subsidiary is primarily focused on sales, with blending capacities that allow for a certain amount of fine-tuning. The company will be renamed Büfa Composites UK once the transaction is completed, which is scheduled for March 2020.

After the takeover, Büfa will handle the distribution of small- and medium-sized quantities for AOC Aliancys in the UK and Ireland. A spokesperson stated that the sales volume in these regions is a little over 10,000 t/y. The resins producer, which was formed in 2018 when AOC and DSM spin-off Aliancys joined forces – see Plasteurope.com of 07.08.2018 – will continue to supply major clients directly from its European headquarters in Schaffhausen / Switzerland. Büfa already distributes AOC materials in the Baltic states, Belarus, Germany and Poland.

The previous sales partner of the US company in the UK and Ireland, composites distributor Euroresins International (Konstanz / Germany; www.euroresins.com), is also a former DSM subsidiary.

In addition to this news, AOC Aliancys also announced the departure of Bert Bakker from the company. Where the manager responsible for activities in Europe and Asia will move to next is currently unknown.
