Rigid films and pharmaceutical packaging specialist Bilcare Research (Allschwil / Switzerland; www.bilcaresolutions.com) is investing EUR 10m to expand PET film capacities for the shrink film and medical device markets. The company says this follows the " tremendous success" of its capacity increase in 2016 – see Plasteurope.com of 10.09.2015. With the present investment, the company will be producing glycol-modified PET (PET-G) shrink films in addition to PET-G films for the medical device market. Capacities have not been disclosed, but the company says the investment will generate new jobs at Bilcare.
In 2017, the Swiss company opened a Shanghai branch to support the Chinese pharmaceutical industry – see Plasteurope.com of 03.08.2017. Bilcare employs approximately 1,200 people and has annual sales of around EUR 300m. Its activities are focused on the pharmaceutical, print and label industries as well as security and credit card customers.
