Gerardo Chiaia appointed CEO of Portuguese packaging producer

Gerardo Chiaia is the new CEO of Portuguese plastic packaging manufacturer Logoplaste (Cascais; www.logoplaste.com). He replaces Roberto Villaquiran, who had been CEO since May 2017 – see Plasteurope.com of 23.05.2017 – and will be leaving the company due to family reasons.
Chiaia joined Logoplaste in October 2018 as CEO Europe and Asia. He has 24 years of experience in the plastics industry, most recently with the Canadian plastics technology manufacturer (including injection moulding and hot runner solutions) Husky (Bolton, Ontario; www.husky.ca). There, he was president of a number of businesses including Beverage Packaging as well as Hot Runner and Controllers. While at Husky, he also spent five years in China developing the regional business.
Logoplaste operates 60 injection moulding and blow mouding plants in 16 countries on four continents. The company has more than 2,000 employees and generates annual sales of over EUR 500m. It was founded in 1976 in Cascais. In 2016, investment company The Carlyle Group (Washington, D.C. / USA; www.carlyle.com) acquired a 50% stake in Logoplaste – see Plasteurope.com of 25.08.2016.
