Indian plastics trade fair has record visitor numbers / "K" in Düsseldorf overtaken

The tenth edition of “Plastindia” (www.plastindia2018.plastindia.org) was held from 7-12 February 2018 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat / India, and attracted approximately 246,000 visitors. Over the six days, 1,800 exhibitors from 44 countries showcased their products and services over 125,000 m². Just over 30% of exhibitors were overseas participants.
Plastindia Foundation president K.K. Seksaria said the fair "has set new records," with the average of over 40,000 visitors per day the "highest in any plastics exhibition held ... anywhere in the world." The largest trade fair at the time, "K", attracted 232,000 visitors over eight days in its latest edition in 2016 – see Plasteurope.com of 27.10.2016 – and 155,258 registered visitors in Guangzhou at the four-day "Chinaplas" in 2017 – see Plasteurope.com of 24.05.2017.
According to the German association VDMA Kunststoff- und Gummimaschinen (KuG, Frankfurt; https://kug.vdma.org), global plastics and rubber machinery exports to India reached a total of EUR 749.2m in 2016, up 20.5% on the previous year. China was the leading supplier to Indian processors, accounting for 30.8% of total exports, followed by Germany with 23.8%, Japan with 7.7%, Taiwan with 7.6% and Italy with 7.4% – see Plasteurope.com of 19.12.2017.
