In what it called “an important milestone for the globalisation of our polymer business,” German compounder and distributor Lehmann & Voss (LuV, Hamburg; www.lehvoss.de) in early December held the opening ceremony of its first production site in China. Located in Kunshan, about 60 km west of Shanghai, Lehvoss New Material (Kunshan) will focus on manufacturing the company’s “Luvocom” high-performance compounds as well as its “Luvobatch” additives and masterbatches. Nameplate capacity was not disclosed.
Construction of the 2,500 m2 site first began in November last year (see Plasteurope.com of 25.02.2016). In addition to the production hall, the subsidiary also includes an application technology centre. Now that the plant is operational, the German company is “represented with production facilities on three continents,” LuV managing partner Thomas Oehmichen said during the opening ceremony. In addition to its home base in Germany, LuV also operates production plants in the US (see also Plasteurope.com of 16.09.2014).
