Sale of Containers & Closures division to Berry Plastics finalised
Completing its transformation into a global beverage can business, Rexam (London / UK; www.rexam.com) on 2 June announced that it had wrapped up the sale of its Containers & Closures division to Berry Plastics (Evansville, Indiana / USA; www.berryplastics.com) – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 25.03.2014. The purchase price came to about USD 135m, subject to customary closing adjustments.
The division’s eight manufacturing sites in the US, Mexico, France and India produce bottles, closures and speciality products for pharmaceutical and over-the-counter applications. Its 1,500 employees posted sales of USD 262m in 2013.
