After having sold the pharmaceutical devices and prescription retail packaging divisions of its healthcare business to Montagu Private Equity (London / UK; www.montagu.com) in early February (see Plasteurope.com of 06.02.2014), Rexam (London / UK; www.rexam.com) now said it had received a binding offer from Berry Plastics (Evansville, Indiana / USA; www.berryplastics.com) for the Containers & Closures division, the last remaining unit of its Healthcare business.
The USD 135m offer is subject to certain adjustments and regulatory approval, and also necessitates negotiations with the French works council. The group operates a containers and closures plant in Offranville, in the north of France. Rexam said it expects the sale to be wrapped up by the summer.
