Dutch pipe systems manufacturer Wavin (Zwolle; www.wavin.com) announced that it has received an unsolicited non-binding takeover proposal from Mexichem (Tlalnepantla / Mexico; www.mexichem.com.mx). Wavin’s management and supervisory boards are currently reviewing the EUR 431.6m offer to take over all the group’s outstanding shares.
Mexichem embarked on an impressive buying spree late last year. Initially, the group purchased two Mexican PVC producers (see Plasteurope.com of 09.09.2010), a move it followed up with the purchase of Rockwood Holdings’ (Princeton, New Jersey / USA; www.rocksp.com) AlphaGary plastic compounding business (see Plasteurope.com of 21.12.2010).
