Swedish group sells medical contract manufacturer to Phillips Plastics
Swedish private equity group Ratos (Stockholm; www.ratos.se) has signed an agreement to sell its Medisize (Vantaa / Finland; www.medisize.com) subsidiary to Phillips Plastics Corporation (Hudson, Wisconsin / USA; www.phillipsplastics.com). The EUR 99.8m deal still has to meet the approval of the relevant competition authorities and is expected to go through sometime in Q3 2011. The final enterprise value comes to EUR 127.5m.
Medisize came into being in 2008, after Ratos bought Medisize Medical and merged it with its previous acquisition, Medifiq Healthcare – see Plasteurope.com of 06.03.2008. The Vantaa-based contract manufacturer specialised in medical devices has some 860 employees and generated sales of EUR 127.8m in 2010.
