GREINER PACKAGING
New joint venture in Serbia / Latest of a series of investments aimed at increasing regional presence
On 1 January 2010, Greiner Packaging (GPI, Kremsmünster / Austria; www.greiner-gpi.com) entered into a 51:49 joint venture with Serbian injection-moulding specialist Jovanovic Plast (Nova Pazova; www.jplast.co.rs). The jv, named Greiner Packaging JP, will be run by Goran Jovanovic, the son of Jovanovic Plast founder Milun Jovanovic.
Using an in-mould labelling method, Jovanovic Plast’s product portfolio includes food storage boxes, ice-cream and cheese packaging, flower pots and garden furniture. Founded the 1978, the Serbian group exports to several European countries, including Hungary, Bulgaria, Ukraine and the former Yugoslav republics.
Already one of Europe’s leading packaging companies, Greiner Packaging has been on an investment and expansion spree in the past few months, financing a new building at its site in Switzerland (see Plasteurope.com of 20.11.2009) and opening a new construction hall in Estonia (see Plasteurope.com of 15.12.2009).
