VELOX
Distributor launches additive for recyclates / Extension to existing "Fine-Blend" series in Europe
Velox (Hamburg / Germany; www.velox.com) is expanding its product portfolio with the brand-new "Fine-Blend SAG-008". The styrene-acrylonitrile-glycidyl methacrylate-based chain extender is for rPC, rPET and rPA, among others. This complements its existing Fine-Blend additives portfolio, from Nantong Sunny Polymer New Materials Technology (Shanghai / China), which Velox has been selling in Europe since 2015 (see Plasteurope.com of 20.10.2015).
Together with Struktol Company of America (Stow, Ohio / USA; www.struktol.com), Velox has also developed an additives portfolio for many forms of polyolefins recycling, says the company. It is promising solutions towards an increased process reliability and improved processing, an adjustment of melt viscosity, compatibility improvements of recyclate mixtures as well as odour- and VOC-absorbers. Back in 2014, Velox added the US company’s additives for recyclates to portfolio for Europe-wide distribution (see Plasteurope.com of 28.10.2014).
The company is responding to a growing need for more effective and sustainable recycling in Europe. Rolf Gasser, product manager additives at Velox, believes that China's import ban on certain plastic waste since 1 January 2018 as well as the EU's agreement on a recycling quota for packaging, consisting of more than 50% of plastics until 2030, will increase European demand for recycling additives.
Founded in 1993, the Hamburg-based company has 21 branches throughout Europe and employs more than 230 people.
