VELOX
Distributing Nantong Sunny's “Fine-Blend” compatibilisers and impact modifiers in Europe
In July this year German distributor Velox (Hamburg; www.velox.com) started offering the compatibiliser and impact modifier range of Nantong Sunny Polymer New Materials Technology (Shanghai / China; www.sunnyfc.com/en) in “most parts of Europe”. The deal covers Nantong Sunny’s “Fine-Blend” brand, and includes the company’s proprietary SAG/SAM copolymerised compatibilisers, based on styrene-acrylonitrile-glycidyl methacrylate (SAG) copolymers. The series’ properties are said to exceed those of PC, polyesters and blends with regard to phase stability and heat resistance. In addition, SAGs can also be used as chain extenders in recycled polyesters, Velox said.
Another “Fine-Blend” family now available in Europe is the anhydride SAM series, consisting of styrene-(acrylonitrile)-maleic anhydride copolymers that enable the coupling effect of styrene-based materials with minerals, glass and fibres, among others. Completing the offer is Nantong Sunny’s SAN range of styrene acrylonitrile copolymers that can be used as a colour masterbatch carrier, a flow or as a dispersion aid in styrene-based materials or PC. Velox said it is also offering the Chinese group’s PBT impact modifier based in MAH grafted POE.
A subsidiary of grafting compatibiliser producer Shanghai Sunny, Nantong Sunny was founded in 2011. It purports to be “the first company able to produce compatibilisers by polymerisation reaction technology in China”, and today exports its output throughout the world.
