Indian flexible film manufacturer Uflex (Noida; www.uflexltd.com) is extending its alliance with WaveFront Technology (Paramount, California / USA; www.wft.bz) to start manufacturing Fresnel lens packaging films in Europe. Flex Films Europa, a wholly owned subsidiary of Uflex in Wrzesnia / Poland, will start film production in the fourth quarter of 2016. WaveFront Technology Europe will lead sales and marketing activities.
Ashok Chaturvedi, chairman and managing director of Uflex, said the deal was an important geographical extension of its existing relationship with WaveFront Technology in India. “The ties with WaveFront will further enhance our ‘Speed to Market Reach’ in Europe – one of the core pillars of our global business strategy that has always given us the competitive edge,” he commented. Head of design at WaveFront Technology, Simon Thompson, added that the alliance would bring design and production capabilities together, ensuring a fast, accurate response for its European customers.
Uflex has around 100,000 t/y in film manufacturing capacity at various locations in India. It also has packaging film plants in India, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, Egypt, Poland and the US, with combined capacity of more than 337,000 t.
The company is currently building the first phase of a plant for aseptic packaging material in Gujarat / India, which is scheduled to be operational by April 2017 – see Plasteurope.com of 25.08.2015.
