Following Weidenhammer purchase now operating as Sonoco Consumer Products Europe
After its 2014 acquisition of competitor Weidenhammer Packaging Group (WPG, Hockenheim / Germany; www.weidenhammer.de) – see Plasteurope.com of 04.11.2014 – Sonoco (Hartsville, South Carolina / USA; www.sonoco.com) has now redefined itself as Sonoco Consumer Products Europe (www.sonocoeurope.com).
By January next year all previous Weidenhammer businesses will be rebranded under the Sonoco name. The new group with 70 European plants and subsidiaries is divided into four business units – Display and Packaging, Rigid Paper Containers (composite cans), Trident Graphics Management and Plastics (thin-wall injection moulding using IML).
