POLYSCOPE
Two additions to "Xiran" terpolymer range / Dutch plant upgraded
Dutch engineering plastics producer Polyscope (Geleen; www.polyscope.eu) has added two new grades to its "Xiran IZ"’ range: "Xiran IZ1018M" and "Xiran IZ0721M". Xiran is a series of terpolymers made from styrene, maleic anhydride and N-phenylmaleimide. The additional grades contain a different ratio of these intermediates and have been designed to increase the high heat performance of many engineering plastics, such as ABS, as well as having low-volatile residual levels. They have a glass transition temperature of 175°C or higher and can be exposed to higher processing temperatures with excellent miscibility in styrenic polymers, the company said.
Polyscope has upgraded its continuous polymerisation process at its Dutch site in Geleen to produce the new grades. The company said it is continuously exploring with its customers opportunities and applications for Xiran IZ grades which could potentially be used in combination with other polymers.
Last March, the company added two lower molecular weight grades to the Xiran portfolio – see Plasteurope.com from 05.03.2013.
