Automotive growth and 2007 urban systems acquisitions contribute to 15.5% sales increase
Plastic Omnium (PO, Levallois / France; www.plasticomnium.com) has reported sales of EUR 2.68 bn in 2007, an increase of 15.5% on the previous year (11.7% at constant exchange rates and scope of consolidation). Revenues in the company’s automotive business increased by 12.2% (12.3%) to EUR 2.25 bn, led by the development of exterior modules and new plants located in rapidly developing automobile producing regions. Plants in France saw a return to growing revenues, aided by the launch of new production programmes for Renault and Peugeot while the US saw a sharp increase in demand from BMW and General Motors.
Sales in the urban systems division (rubbish containers) increased by 80.4% (6.0%) to EUR 436m as Compagnie Signature (Nanterre / France; www.ciesignature.com), acquired in July 2007, contributed EUR 127m to revenues. The signage company also entered into a joint venture with Eurovia (Rueil-Malmaison / France; www.eurovia.com) in which PO holds 65% – see Plasteurope.com of 01.08.2007. German waste collection company Sulo Environmental Technology was acquired from Veolia Environnement (Paris / France; www.veoliaenvironnement.com) in September 2007 and generated fourth quarter revenue of EUR 55.4m – see Plasteurope.com of 03.10.2007. Revenues in the urban systems division are expected to reach EUR 600m in 2008.
