US packaging specialist Berry Plastics (Evansville, Indiana; www.berryplastics.com) has appointed Carl Rickertsen to its board of directors. He is a managing partner of private equity investment firm Pine Creek Partners (Washington, D.C. / USA; www.pinecreekpartners.com).

At the end of August 2011, Berry Plastics acquired 100% of the stocks of Linpac Packaging Filmco (Aurora, Ohio / USA; www.linpacpackaging-filmco.com) – a member of the Linpac Group (Birmingham / UK; www.linpac.com) – for USD 19m (see Plasteurope.com of 05.09.2011). Another recent acquisition was the purchase of Rexam’s (London / UK; www.rexam.com) specialty and beverage closures business – see also Plasteurope.com of 21.06.2011, which was completed in September 2011.
