PEKK medical implant grades offered by Velox
Specialty raw materials distributor Velox (Hamburg / Germany; www.velox.com) is extending its co-operation with OPM (Enfield, Connecticut / USA; www.oxfordpm.com) by supplying the US producer’s “OXPEKK” implant and medical grades of PEKK-based materials in Germany and eastern Europe.

The OXPEKK range is suitable for use in short- and long-term human implantable devices, with applications including spinal cages, cervical plates, dental devices and devices used in orthopaedic surgery.

OPM, which is an Arkema (Paris / France; www.arkema.com) subsidiary, said OXPEKK is available in both amorphous and crystalline form. It can be supplied in pellets for extrusion/injection moulding and extruded shapes for machining.

Velox, which is OPM’s supply partner in Europe, said the new agreement reinforces its offering of specialty medical polymers. Arkema has also appointed Velox as European distributor for its multiwall carbon nanotubes – see Plasteurope.com of 31.07.2009.
