US precision dispenser agrees to acquire melt delivery components producer Xaloy / Latest in a string of acquisitions
The expansion track continues at US precision dispension company Nordson (Westlake, Ohio / USA; www.nordson.com). After forking out USD 200m in late May to acquire Extrusion Die Industries (EDI, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin / USA; www.extrusiondies.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 25.05.2012 – the Westlake-based company in early June said it had reached a definite agreement to acquire melt delivery components producer Xaloy Superior Holdings (New Castle, Pennsylvania / USA; www.xaloy.com). Also valued at USD 200m, the deal is expected to go through in Nordson’s Q3, pending the relevant regulatory approval.
Once the agreement goes through, Xaloy will operate as part of Nordson’s Adhesive Dispending Systems segment. With operations in the US, Germany and Thailand, the New Castle-based company’s portfolio includes bi-metallic barrels, engineered screws, melt pumps, screen changers, heat transfer rolls, valves and nozzles as well as jet cleaners and pelletisers – all designed to serve the plastics melt stream.
Commenting on the purchase, Nordson CEO Michael Hilton said, “By adding this capability to our recent extrusion die product line acquisitions, Nordson now brings the industry a truly unique offering that combines the critical elements of both material flow and dispensing.” The acquisition is expected to be accretive to Nordson’s earnings in the first full year of operation.
