MAUSER
Canadian industrial packaging distributor acquired / Expands collection activities in Canada
German industrial packaging specialist Mauser (Brühl; www.mausergroup.com) has acquired Canadian distributor Armco Industries (Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec; www.armcoindustries.com). The deal, for which financial terms were not disclosed, expands Mauser’s reach into Canada’s western region. Armco Industries has a network across Canada for the collection of empty industrial containers. Its facilities in Quebec and Ontario will be consolidated into Mauser’s locations in Mississauga, Ontario, and Boucherville, Quebec, which is operated by RTQ-NCG, its Canadian reconditioning division. RTQ-NCG will retain its operation in Calgary.
Mauser said the acquisition would not only increase its distribution activities, but would also give a collection point for the Mauser Recollect Program in an area of Canada where it has not been previously available. Nick Armenti, principal of Armco Industries said: “We believe this will enable us to offer a wider variety of products at more competitive pricing.” RTQ-NCG’s president, Guy Trepanier, added: “Although our companies offer varying products and services, our strengths are complementary on many levels. Together we will be a competitive force that will be a major asset for the Canadian container market.”
This latest deal follows Mauser’s announcement last month of a joint venture for supplying intermediate bulk containers (IBC) in Mexico – see Plasteurope.com of 22.04.2013.
