IBC joint venture starts up in Mexico
German industrial packaging specialist Mauser (Brühl; www.mausergroup.com) has started up an intermediate bulk containers (IBC) joint venture in Toluca / Mexico. The operation, a jv with Plastienvases (Mexico City / Mexico; www.plastienvases.com.mx), will supply UN-certified IBCs capable of transporting 275 gallons (1000 litres) of industrial liquids and ingredients.
Named Mauser Plastienvases International (MPI), the operation combines Mauser’s global experience of manufacturing and supplying IBCs with Plastienvases’ plastic drum business and knowledge of the Mexican market. “Global companies continue to expand their filling operations here in Mexico and local Mexican companies are also growing so the creation of this joint venture, MPI, makes sense,” said Alexis Riedel, MPI’s general manager.
“IBCs as a packaging choice are growing everywhere around the world and we are committed to keep pace with that growth,” said Jeff Simmonds, president and CEO of Mauser North America. “Our current experience with Plastienvases as a Mauser licensee for plastic drums has demonstrated our ability to work together well as a team which will be critical as we enter the IBC market in Mexico.”
