Divesting European PVB activities / EU stipulation for takeover of DuPont's GLS/Vinyls business
To gain the European Commission’s full approval for its takeover of DuPont’s (Europe: Geneva / Switzerland; www.dupont.com) Glass Laminating Solutions/Vinyls (GLS/Vinyls) activities – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 06.06.2014Kuraray (Tokyo / Japan; www.kuraray.co.jp) has agreed to sell some of the former’s European PVB film businesses. The USD 12m deal, expected to be completed in January 2015 following regulatory approval, will see the Japanese group sell the production plant in Uentrop / Germany as well as the R&D centre in Mechelen / Belgium to investment group GVC (Luxembourg; www.gvcsa.com). The latter is a subsidiary of GVC Holdings (Montavale, New Jersey / USA; www.gvcholdings.com).

PVB is used among others for automotive windshields and safety glass applications as well as in both VAM and PVA products.
