KURARAY
Acquisition of DuPont's Glass Laminating Solutions/Vinyls activities complete
Following the authorities’ approval, Kuraray (Tokyo / Japan; www.kuraray.co.jp) on 1 June completed the acquisition of DuPont’s (Europe: Geneva / Switzerland; www.dupont.com) Glass Laminating Solutions/Vinyls (GLS/Vinyls) activities – for previous coverage, see Plasteurope.com of 28.11.2013. The Japanese group said the impact of the USD 543m (about EUR 400m) deal on its fiscal results was currently being examined, adding that it would disclose details upon assessment completion.

Previously part of DuPont’s Packaging & Industrial Polymers business, GLS/Vinyls specialises in the production of polyvinyl butyral (PVB, “Butacite”) and ionomer sheets (“SentryGlass”) for safety glass, as well as vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) and polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) products.
