KURARAY
New PVB production line starts up in Germany
Kuraray (Europe: Frankfurt / Germany; www.kuraray.eu) has begun commercial production of its expanded capacity for “Mowital” PVB resin in the Höchst chemical park near Frankfurt. With the expansion by 10,000 t/y, at a cost of EUR 26m, Kuraray now has capacity for 39,000 t/y of the resins used to manufacture its “Trosifol” PVB film used in architectural glazing and laminated automobile safety.
The Japanese group acquired the resins facility from Swiss speciality chemical producer Clariant (Muttenz; www.clariant.com) in 2002 – see Plasteurope.com of 19.07.2001. In 2004 it bought the films business of HT Troplast (www.ht-troplast.com) – see Plasteurope.com of 25.11.2004 – and with it the "Trosifol" trademark.
