On 1 July Manfred Stanek will take over as CEO of Austrian plastics packaging producer Greiner Packaging International (GPI, Kremsmünster; www.greiner-gpi.com). He succeeds Willi Eibner, who will in future serve as a consultant to the group, in charge of establishing and developing new business sectors.
Stanek most recently worked as a management board member at Novelis (Atlanta, Georgia / USA; www.novelis.com), a manufacturer of rolled aluminium products and an aluminium recycler. The manager began his career working as a consultant and spent stint in both the US and Brazil.
GPI last year acquired a controlling stake in two Turkish packagers as part of what Greiner Holding CEO Axel Kühner called a systematic globalisation strategy, geared especially at the Middle Eastern and Asian markets (see Plasteurope.com of 22.06.2015). While growing elsewhere, the company in May this year announced that it is downsizing its workforce at Rastatt / Germany (see Plasteurope.com of 06.05.2016).
