EXXONMOBIL CHEMICAL
“Enable” range of metallocene polyethylene resins expanded / New mPE grade for tough films
Oil and gas company ExxonMobil Chemical (Houston, Texas / USA; www.exxonmobilchemical.com) has expanded its “Enable” metallocene polyethylene (mPE) resin range, first introduced in 2008 – see Plasteurope.com of 16.05.2008. The group says its new medium density “Enable” mPE 35-05 resin is ideal for tough, stiff, high clarity co-extruded films. The grade, with low internal haze, is easily processed on both LDPE and LLDPE film line equipment, ExxonMobil says, emphasising that its lower melt temperature promotes lower bubble stability with lower energy consumption.
In terms of characteristics, mPE 35-05 displays the processing and shrink properties of LDPE, with the mechanical properties of a higher alpha-olefin (HAO) resin, the group says, adding that it can enhance the performance of applications such as shrink film, overwrap film, laminates and stand-up pouch, medium and heavy duty bags as well as other high performance films.
