It has been a busy spring for Polish film specialist Ergis Group (Warsaw; www.ergis.eu). The company recently confirmed it commissioned its second production line for PE stretch films with “nanoErgis” layers at its Polish production site in Olawa outside of Wroclaw – see Plasteurope.com of 09.01.2014. The company confirmed to Plasteurope.com the final investment costs for the new facility, which has been supplied by Germany‘s Windmöller & Hölscher (Lengerich; www.wuh-group.com) were roughly PLN 18m (EUR 4.3m).
The film specialists also announced that as of 1 July, the company name, Ergis-Eurofilms SA, was now operating again as Ergis SA, which had been the name it went by from 1998-2007.
"It has been seven years since ’Ergis SA’ and ’Eurofilms SA’ were integrated into one business,” noted Ergis boss Tadeusz Nowicki, when asked why the company went back from the new to the old. He added, “During this period the Ergis Group has achieved brand recognition in the market and there was some confusion as the previous British shareholders of Eurofilms are still operating under the Eurofilms Extrusion name.”
For the first quarter of 2014, the Polish company reported it increased revenues by 1.1% to PLN 164m over the same period from the previous year. Following restructuring steps, operating profits climbed 52% to PLN 9.2m.
