DREYPLAS
New pan-European distributor for CD Polytech's UHMW-PE alloys / Shifting focus on high-performance additives and polymers
German plastics and additives distributor Dreyplas (Meerbusch; www.dreyplas.com) has added CD Polytech's (Houston, Texas / USA) UHMW-PE alloys to its pan-European portfolio. Once it has built up sufficient stocks of the material at its European central warehouse, Dreyplas said it will be able to supply the material quickly and flexibly.
The latest addition to its portfolio underlines its shifting focus towards high-performance additives and polymers, Dreyplas said. At the end of July, the German distributor added PEEK polymers produced by China’s Jilin Zhong Yan High Performance Plastic (Changchun, Jilin; http://en.joinature.cn) to its offering – see Plasteurope.com of 22.07.2013.
CD Polytech’s UHMW-PE alloys are said to combine the material’s mechanical characteristics – including abrasion and corrosion resistance – with the easy processability of conventional thermoplastics. The alloys are suitable for both injection moulding and extrusion, Dreyplas said.
Unlike conventional UHMW-PE, the alloys offer good melt processability on injection moulding, extrusion and compounding machinery, Dreyplas said, adding they can serve as a replacement for certain PTFE, POM and even PA grades. The new addition complements Dreyplas’ existing UHMW-PE alloys portfolio, allowing the group to now offer bright white grades with high, medium and low viscosity, the properties of which, it says, remain constant over a wide range of temperatures and frequencies.
Applications using injection moulded UHMW-PE alloys include rollers, gearwheels, guide rails, chain guides, screws, stirrers, athletic goods as well as materials used in the chemical and food processing industries. Extrusion applications include tubes, films and sheets, Dreyplas said, adding fibre and monofilament applications are still being developed.
Dreyplas’ network extends across Europe, covering the German-speaking countries and Poland – where it operates with its Plaskobel (Lodz) affiliate. In addition, the distributor also works with local sales representatives in the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and Hungary. The HQ in Meerbusch handles requests from companies located in other European countries.
