Desch Plantpak (Waalwijk / The Netherlands; www.desch-plantpak.com) says it has boosted its position in the horticultural sector with the 9 September 2020 acquisition of the assets of IPP (Vroomshoop / The Netherlands; www.ippholland.nl). The latter operates two manufacturing facilities – IPP Holland in the Netherlands and Interplast Plastic Products in Poland. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Desch said the IPP deal will reinforce its position as a “pioneering manufacturer of thermoform and injection-moulded products for professional horticulture, with production facilities in the Netherlands, the UK, and Poland.” The company’s managing director Jan Wieringa added, “We’ve been wanting to expand our injection moulding capacity for quite some time. IPP is a perfect match for us, with complementary products and a strong market position that includes Eastern Europe.”

Together, Desch and IPP own more than 70 injection moulding machines and employ more than 300 staff. The companies’ combined turnover is some EUR 80m (including thermoforming).

Desch said this was the second purchase of a leading injection moulder following its 2010 acquisition of E-PLA, a Dutch manufacturer of decorative pots for gardens, baskets and other items (see Plasteurope.com of 16.06.2010). In 2019, the company bought the horticultural division of Germany’s Fernholz (Meinerzhagen; www.fernholz-verpackungen.de), and in the prior year, it tookover Sky-Light, a Danish manufacturer of plastic packaging and sheet for thermoforming (see Plasteurope.com of 21.01.2019 and 25.10.2018).
