DECEUNINCK
Another plant to close in the US / Capacity to move entirely to Monroe
Window and profile manufacturer Deceuninck (Hooglede-Gits / Belgium; www.deceuninck.com) is to close its extrusion line in Little Rock, Arkansas / USA, and will in future operate only one plant in the US. Capacity from the closed plant will be shifted to the company’s remaining production site in Monroe, Ohio, by April 2009. About 70 jobs will be affected by the closure, which is blamed on a further decline in sales in the US construction industry.
Deceuninck acquired plants in Little Rock and Oakland, New Jersey, in 2003 with the takeover of Thyssen Polymers. The Oakland facility was closed in 2006 – see Plasteurope.com of 27.11.2006.
In the last few years, the company’s turnover in North America has been continuously declining. Sales in 2005 amounted to around USD 170m, but dropped a year later to USD 150m or 19% of total company sales. In 2007, North America accounted for just 14% or USD 110m of overall sales. Regional figures are not yet available for the last financial year.
