POLYMER PRICE FORECASTS
Further decline in naphtha / Precursors to also ease in January
— By Plasteurope.com Price Team —
The price of naphtha fell by almost 4% in the first two weeks of December, and demand is also likely to remain weak in January. The forecast expert on PIE’s price team, Julia Mihalkina, expects ethylene and propylene contracts to ease at the start of the year before rising slightly towards the end of the first quarter of 2025.
Price developments for C2 and C3 in Europe could be influenced by the omnipresent geopolitical uncertainties and trade policy statements from US president-elect Donald Trump. Recently, extended production cuts by OPEC have exercised little influence.
