Turkish plastic films producer Polibak (İzmir; www.polibak.com.tr) has signed a contract with Brückner (Siegsdorf / Germany; www.brueckner.com) to build a new BOPP film production line to boost its capacity by 40%, the German engineering group said. Brückner said the line is slated to become the largest BOPP film manufacturing plant in Turkey. It will have a 10.4 m line width and production speeds of up to 525 m/min, with a 5-layer film output of over 7.4 t per hour.
Polibak said it would be the sixth BOPP line contract with Brückner. It will produce wrap-around labels, in-mould labels (IMLs), pearlised and white OPP films. Following completion in Q3 2019, Polibak's nameplate capacity will reach 180,000 t/y.
Brückner said Polibak’s two facilities in İzmir have annual capacity of 130,000 t of BOPP film, 25,000 t of metallised BOPP film and 3,000 t of cast PP (CPP) films – see Plasteurope.com of 17.11.2015. The Turkish films manufacturer said demand is constantly growing for packaging films and different label types such as IMLs, both in Turkey and in foreign markets.
