Carter tapped as new COO / Ten Bruggencate to head construction division

With immediate effect, Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan, USA; www.dow.com) has appointed Karen S. Carter, previously head of the largest business unit, Packaging & Specialty Plastics, as group COO. Carter, 49, has worked for Dow since 1994 and has held numerous management positions, including head of HR.
Keith Cleason, 58, will take over her previous position as head of the packaging division, including responsibility for the Latin American market. He was previously vice president of the Olefins, Aromatics & Alternatives segment and was also responsible for Dow licensing company Univation Technologies.

It has also been announced that Marco ten Bruggencate is to take over as head of the Industrial Intermediates & Infrastructure division when Jane Palmieri retires in March 2025. In addition to the intermediates and construction segments, ten Bruggencate will remain responsible for the EMEAI sales region comprising Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India, which he was already heading. Born in the Netherlands, he has also been president of the producer association Plastics Europe (Brussels; www.plasticseurope.org) since 2022.
Dow recently also completed the sale of its activities in laminate adhesives for plastic packaging with five plants to Arkema (Colombes, France; www.arkema.com).
