INTERNATIONAL RECYCLING FORUM
Fourth edition takes place in Wiesbaden / Status quo, developments, regulations in circular economy

RIGK (Wiesbaden, Germany; www.rigk.de), a service provider for the reclamation of packaging, is organising the International Recycling Forum together with the European Association of Plastics Recycling and Recovery Organisations (EPRO, Brussels; www.epro-plasticsrecycling.org) for the fourth time. The industry meeting is set to focus on the status quo and expected developments in plastics recycling, this year under the motto, Networking towards a Circular Economy. The event will take place in Wiesbaden from 10 to 11 December 2024.

According to organisers, attendees can expect a panel discussion on the new regulations of the recently adopted PPWR, moderated by Joachim Quoden, managing director of the Extended Producer Responsibility Alliance (Expra, Brussels; www.expra.eu).

The exhibitor line-up includes companies covering the entire plastics recycling value chain, from the development of sustainable reclaim technologies to solutions for material sourcing and recovery, including Erema (Ansfelden, Austria; www.erema.com) and recycling machine manufacturer Herbold Meckesheim (Meckesheim, Germany; www.herbold.com).

Further key-note speakers include Ton Emans from industry association Plastics Recyclers Europe, who is expected to talk about current market dynamics in the EU, Gian De Belder from Procter & Gamble (P&G), who will give a presentation about industry partnerships,​​​​ and Alexander Kronimus, managing director of plastics producers’ association Plastics Europe Deutschland, whose presentation is titled Circular Economy with Plastics: Vision and Reality.

In addition to the topics of technical innovations, digitalisation and AI-based approaches for the optimisation of plastics recycling schemes, other panels at the forum will deal with plastics recycling in the agricultural sector, complementary recycling technologies, chemical and mechanical recycling, and EPR for commercial and industrial packaging, the organisers said.
