Spanish PET producer Novapet (Zaragoza; www.novapet.com), part of compatriot group Samca, is taking its first step towards forward integration with the takeover of processor Envases Soplados (Enso, Andujar, Spain; www.envasessoplados.com) for an undisclosed sum. Having purchased a majority stake in Enso in 2018, private equity firm GED Capital had since expanded the company through several acquisitions on the Iberian Peninsula.
Enso has a staff of 260 and three plants for the production of packaging using injection and blow moulding technologies – one domestic facility in Andujar and two in Portugal, in Marinha Grande and Lordelo-Guimarães.
The company produces containers ranging from 20 ml to 25 l mainly aimed at the food industry for oil, honey, vinegar, sauce, bonbon, and cookie packaging. Its product range also covers PET preforms, bag-in-box solutions, as well as caps and closures.
For 2024, CEO Eugenio Real and MD José Oscar Martínez, who will both continue at the helm of the company, expect sales of EUR 60 mn. Combined with Novapet’s production – three PET plants in Barbasto, Spain, with a total capacity of 260,000 t/y – the resulting business is expected to generate annual sales of more than EUR 400 mn.
