Pilot plant for PMMA depolymerisation opened

In Rho, just outside the Italian city of Milan, Trinseo (Wayne, Pennsylvania, USA; www.trinseo.com) recently inaugurated a pilot plant for the depolymerisation of PMMA. The official opening, on 25 June, was attended by Francesca Reverberi, who heads sustainability efforts and the engineering thermoplastics business at Trinseo, and CTO Han Hendriks.
Trinseo did not provide information on capacity.

The company plans to contribute the output to the production of recyclates of Altuglas R-Life and Plexiglas R-Life brands. It offers PMMA compounds that contain secondary materials from chemical and mechanical recycling. The target markets are automotive & mobility, construction, and consumer goods sectors.
