Stefan Doboczky selected as new CEO

Borealis (Vienna; www.borealisgroup.com) has announced a successor for outgoing CEO Thomas Gangl, whose departure came as a surprise, with Stefan Doboczky tapped to take over management of the Austrian polyolefin and basic chemicals manufacturer on 1 July.
“Stefan Doboczky brings a wealth of experience with an impressive leadership track record in the chemicals industry spanning over 30 years,” said Daniela Vlad, chairwoman of the Borealis supervisory board and head of the chemicals division at parent OMV (Vienna; www.omv.com/en).

The incoming chairman, who holds a Ph.D. in chemistry, has worked as a CEO at international chemical companies such as DSM, Lenzing, and Heubach. He has resigned from his position on the OMV supervisory board, which he had held since 2019, due to his appointment as head of Borealis.
