Kunshan, on the border with Shanghai, was selected as the plant site because the Kunshan Development Zone aims to attract the top 500 companies worldwide as it evolves into a business cluster focusing on development, manufacturing, sales, and display of high-end food products, Bericap said.
Bericap’s customers in China include major edible oil, soy sauce, and vinegar manufacturers as well as customers in the beverage and automotive sectors.
It said the investment marks a milestone in its international growth strategy to set up a local presence and to ensure short distances for both customer support and product logistics.
Bericap said it has 29 production plants serving customers in over 100 countries. It reported annual revenues of EUR 1.2 bn in 2022, a 28% year-on-year growth versus 2021.
It had previously said that by the end of 2023, new production sites were to be opened in Vietnam and Kenya, bringing the number of worldwide manufacturing locations to 28.
