Founded in 1972, Tecnofilm manufactures functionalised polyolefins and thermoplastic compounds based on plastics and elastomers, mainly for the footwear and technical goods industries. The company offers a wide range of compounds and functional polymers for various industrial applications and technical articles, with many of the products being patented.
Adriano Alfani, CEO of Versalis, emphasised the strategic importance of the Tecnofilm acquisition, stating that it significantly bolsters Versalis’s business specialisation strategy.
“To this end, it offers the opportunity to expand and specialise our product portfolio by integrating downstream supply chain activities in elastomer-based compounding, particularly in the industrial applications and footwear sectors.”
In September 2021, the company took full ownership of Italian compounder Finproject (Morrovalle, Italy; www.finproject.com/en), producer of cross-linkable and thermoplastic compounds for industrial uses and product moulding. In October 2023, Versalis consolidated control over the entire share capital of biopolymer specialist Novamont (Novara, Italy; www.novamont.com/eng).
