US packaging giant Berry Global (Evansville, Indiana; www.berryglobal.com) said its Flexibles division has recently increased recycling capacity across three of its European facilities, part of a project to expand production of its Sustane range of recycled polymers in the region.

The state-of-the-art equipment installed at plants located in Heanor (UK), Steinfeld (Germany), and Zdzieszowice (Poland) is set to bolster the volume of recycled plastics produced across Berry’s European sites by around 6,600 t/y. In addition to reinforcing Berry’s position as one of the UK’s largest polyethylene recyclers, the expansion will help improve the quality of the recyclate used across Berry’s B Circular Range of flexible film solutions, the company said.

Sustane polymers are third-party accredited to confirm the authenticity of chain of custody claims, providing customers with traceability and reassurance about their origin.
Many of the products produced at Berry’s European film production facilities now contain more than 30% recycled content, such as Stretch Hood, NorDiVent vented sacks, FormiFor compression film, and peat film for gardening substrates.
